FAQS

1. Tell me more about Viva La Body...
We’re the flamingo in a sea of beige: the nose-seducing, planet-loving, unapologetically Australian heroes of personal care. Handmade, solid, plastic-free, and designed to make you smell like a goddess, feel unstoppable, and look like fabulous and confidence eloped and had a rainbow-filled baby.

Australian-made, Australian-owned, and unapologetically bold, our solid personal care range from South-East Queensland makes every day a showstopper.

2. I heard Viva changed owners... where is it based now, and who are the new owners?

Founded in 1999 by Jo and Micko on Larrakia Country (Darwin), Viva La Body was their love letter to the body, the senses, and the planet. In 2025, Ellie and Murray (Go For Zero) were thrilled and honoured to take over Viva, building on 25 years of bold, natural, nose-seducing brilliance with a completely redesigned range, and the return of many of Viva's favourites.

Viva is now proudly based on Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi Kabi) land near Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

3. What are the core values of the brand?

Cruelty-free, palm oil-free and vegan formulations using all-natural ingredients.

  • Plastic-free, Chlorine-free paper packaging printed using soy-based inks, ensuring all Viva products are home compostable after use.
  • Small-batch handmade local production in South-East Queensland.
  • Plastic-free, carbon-positive shipping in Australia.

4. What categories of products does Viva La Body offer?
We have magnesium-enriched deodorants, solid natural perfumes. We are launching (pretty soon) our handmade soap bars, handmade salon-quality shampoo and conditioner bars and outdoor balms. We are always bringing new and limited edition products into the range, so sign up for our mailing list to make sure you get the latest updates!

5. Are Viva La Body products vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. All Viva La Body products are vegan and cruelty-free.

6. Are the products palm oil-free?
Yes. All Viva La Body products and ingredients are Palm Oil-free.

7. How is the packaging of Viva La Body products handled?
Packaging is specially designed to be home compostable by our in-house design team. We use home-compostable paper tubes and cartons for both our products and shipping boxes. We follow a zero-waste approach both with our products, our warehouse logistics and our customer shipping.

8. Where can I buy Viva La Body products?
You can purchase directly from our website. Additionally, there are retailers across Australia which stock the brand, including goforzero.com.au, You can find all our stockists here

9. Does Viva La Body ship internationally?
No, not at the moment. Unfortunately, sending small amounts of products overseas has a huge environmental impact. However, you can purchase them from Go For Zero, who ship internationally and offsets all carbon emissions.

We are looking to bring Viva La Body into overseas markets in the future, so please reach out if you’d like to see Viva La Body products at your favourite store: love@vivalabody.com

10. Do the deodorants contain aluminium, bicarbonate (bi-carb), or other common deodorant ingredients?
No! Viva La Body deodorants are formulated with no aluminium, no parabens, no sulphates, no silicones, and no baking soda (bi-carb). Viva La Body are magnesium-enriched deodorants, making them great for your pits, and all your other bits!

11. Why were shampoo, conditioner, or facial bars discontinued?
The solid hair & facial care ranges were discontinued because a key emulsifier (Brassica alcohol) could no longer be obtained in a palm oil-free form (which conflicted with our ethical standards). However we have found new manufacturers and these products will be back on shelves soon! Stay tuned :)

12. What should I do if I have sensitive skin or allergies?
Please read the product label carefully, and check for allergies or sensitivities before purchase and seek medical advice if needed. Always perform a patch test for essential oils or natural ingredients. If you have further concerns please reach out to us, we’d be happy to talk you through any questions you have.

13. What is the brand’s environmental / conservation commitment?
We are currently updating our environmental / conservation commitment, we will let you know very soon our future plan to support our planet and people.

14. How are ingredients sourced and disclosed?
We are currently building a comprehensive 'what’s in this?' ingredients guide for the website. If you have any questions right now, just send us a message at love@vivalabody.com and we’d be excited to talk with you.

15. How can I contact Viva La Body for enquiries or wholesale?
General enquiries: love@vivalabody.com
Wholesale enquiries: sales@vivalabody.com
Office & Warehouse: 2/8 Tectonic Crescent, Gabi Gabi Land (Kunda Park) 4556 QLD.

17. Are the products handmade, and how does this affect availability?
Yes. Although we no longer make them ourselves as Jo and Micko did, we do work together with two family businesses (Gold Coast and Stanthorpe) to maintain small-batch handmade production. This means certain items will vary slightly in form and look between batches. This is a great thing, though; it means that you are getting a specialist product made by skilled local artisans.

18. How can I find the ingredients list for a product?
All products feature a full ingredient list on the packaging, as well as on each product page online. Soon, you will be able to find a full overview of all ingredients on our ‘what’s in this?’ page.

19. Are products suitable for all skin/hair types?
While we only use natural ingredients, our products could still cause sensitivity in some individuals. We strongly advise checking ingredients with a medical professional if you have concerns, and patch testing before use.

20. My deodorant is too hard to push up. What should I do?

I'm so sorry to hear that it has become stuck. This can sometimes happen due to temperature changes. No need to worry though, there is an easy fix. Simply roll the deodorant back and forth on a flat surface with a little bit of pressure and it should release.

21. I noticed some graining in my product, is it normal?

The graining you’ve noticed in the deodorant is completely normal and can happen from time to time, especially as the seasons change and temperatures fluctuate. Because our deodorants are made with natural ingredients like shea butter and coconut oil, slight changes in texture, including graining, can occur when the product cools or warms unevenly during transit or storage.

The great news is that this doesn’t affect the performance, safety, or effectiveness of the product at all. The deodorant will still work just as good to keep you fresh and protected.

If the texture bothers you, you can gently warm the deodorant slightly (placing the closed container in a warm room or holding it against your skin for a few seconds before applying), this can help smooth it out a bit.

22. My deodorant/perfume is dry/changed colour
It’s completely normal for natural deodorants to vary slightly in colour, texture, or consistency over time. Because our formulas are made with pure, plant-based and mineral ingredients, things like temperature, humidity, and even exposure to air or light can cause gentle changes in colour, especially during travel or storage.

You can store your deodorant in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to help maintain its original appearance for longer.

Thank you again for reaching out and for choosing a natural option, these little variations are one of the beautiful reminders that your product is made with real, living ingredients and not synthetic fillers.

23. What is the brand’s philosophy on packaging and waste?
We f***ing hate plastic. So all of Viva La Body products and shipping packaging can be composted at home after use. Of course, you can throw it in the yellow bin, but why not add it to your composter, dig a hole and bury it, or fill it with some soil, and a few seeds to return it to the earth.
